Angry at first, tension mingled, enthusiasm raring to burst.

Little prints on the ground below, within your eyes a certain glow.

Our first meeting was a test, to see if we, would fit best.

Greeted with a snarl and shiny new teeth, not yet convinced, you should be bequeathed.

Tolerance evolved, with playful nips, many jeans, and many rips.

Developed devotion from within your spirit, with each warning, I could hear it.

Years of laughs, countless fun, Oh I loved watching you run.

Protector, man's best friend 'till drawn the final day.

What I would give for another play..

Anticipating the day would come, my heart, weighed heavy,

The cycle complete, you fell ill, there I sat, tear in eyes, my heart was broken,

The burden of love and tears of joy, and of parting words that were spoken,

No truer friend ever there was, how I wished for another day.

What I would give, for another play..

The rainbow bridge gates had opened, and you were free, free of pain, free to run,

Never forgotten days and nights, feelings of joy and so much fun.

The others before, wait to greet, for its been awhile, waiting the meet,

in heavens grace, and starlit skies, your spirit continues to live, another day.

What I would give for another play.

Just one more day, and another play..
