Forward thinking

We are no spring chickens that is for sure, and unfortunately we cannot turn back the clocks regardless of how much we may want to. We are coming to the realization that in short order this house is going to be way to much for us, and that we will need to downsize regardless. Retirements will not cover it alone, and what is the point of having to supplement income.. them you are not retired, you are part time employed.. without major investments, I don't know how folks think that retirement incomes can afford anyone a decent life. it don't/ can't because what they actually pay you for all your years of work barely covers a months grocery bill let alone a living wage to cover a home, medical, vehicles and so much more. So, at some point here in this household, we need to consider the otions for the future. Deb will be hitting retirement age in the next 5 years or so, and we can already see that financially it won't work as it is now. With current finances, there is no way for us to save enough to cover ourselves in the future. Sure we can scrape and barely get by now, but that doesn't allow for future planning and expenses. I've noticed over the past few years everytime we start to tuck away a little and start to save, innevitably there is always that major expense that creeps up and cleans you out without fail.. Every rainy day fund gets depleted like its a friggin downpour or deluge of water flowing and never in our favor.. We need ways to SAVE without fail... All I know is we will not be able to cover the expenses here at this house for very long in the future, our entire incomes barely cover it now. I love this house and its location, but apparently it not a lifelong term for us which kind of sucks all around.
